The Minister of Economic Development, Aleksey Ulukaev made a report on the support of monotowns at the Government meeting headed by V.Putin.

At the meeting held in Petrozavodsk Aleksey Ulukaev mentioned that the Ministry is working out a draft which will provide taxation exemptions for companies investing in monotowns.

“We are ready to introduce a draft of a federal law on amendments to the legislation for provision of taxation exemptions for companies, legal entities which implement investment projects in monotowns”.

The Minister added that the draft of the federal law introducing amendments to the law on special economic zones has already been prepared by the Ministry, it will provide companies with the opportunity to create such zones on the basis of industrial, technological and agricultural parks.
The Ministry planned to grant 51.5 billion rubles from the federal budget to “support monotowns, however, this sum was seriously reduced later and in the end 5 monotowns received 3 billion rubles for their support».

Apart from the five monotowns which need immediate support, there are other tree monotowns which still need 2.5 billion rubles. President Vladimir Putin asked to improve the document and agreed to Aleksey Ulukaev’s request to finish the work in June so that new projects can be implemented in monotowns as son as possible.
