On July 7, 2014 the Berlin Hotel de Rome hosted the IV-th international economic congress “Germany-Russia 2014”/ “Germany-Ukraine 2014”.

The congress was organised by the German company “Wegweiser Media & Conferences GmbH Berlin”, the Trade mission of RF Embassy in Germany, the Eastern Committee of German Economy, the Council of the Russian Economy in Germany.

More than 300 specialists from economy, science, management and politics of the European Union, Russia and Ukraine gathered together to define new cooperation perspectives and establish new contacts.

The congress included a number of plenary sessions: “Partnership for modernisation 2.0? Economy and business as new architects of ideas” “The system of state management after the Presidential elections in Ukraine”, “Energy cooperation as a guarantee for security and cooperation in Europe”. There were also round table discussions and seminars.

Aleksander Medvedev, the First Deputy Governor of the Smolensk Region and Rostislav Rovbel, the First Deputy Head of the Department of Economic Development of the Smolensk Region took part in the work of the Congress.

At the plenary session “Partnership for modernisation 2.0? Economy and business as new architects of ideas” Aleksander Medvedev made a report “The investment climate of the Smolensk Region”.

During the congress there were several negotiations with the heads of large German companies interested in business activity in the Smolensk Region.

The Council of the Russian Economy in Germany awarded the Smolensk Region with the diploma of “the Investment attractive region” for winning the contest “The beacon of Russian-German economic cooperation”.
