The Indian investor will develop flax cultivation in the Smolensk region

Acting Governor of Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovskiy has signed the investment agreement with the management of the company Roslek in cultivation and processing of flax in the territory of the Smolensk region.

The investment project assumes the creation of the enterprise for cultivation and processing of flax in Monastyrshchinskii district. According to the Head of the region, development of flax-growing branch is one of the priority directions in Smolensk region.

Within the investment project it is planned to allot about 1,5 - 2 thousand hectares of agricultural lands under the flax cultivation per year. It is supposed purchase and installation of equipment which allow making up to 2000 tons of flax fiber per year. Further it is planned a creation of production on processing of fiber into a flax yarn for international export.

It is reported that the total amount of investments will make 100 million rubles.

The company Roslek was founded in 2004 by a group of the Indian businessmen. The core business is delivery and service of the pharmaceutical equipment and sale of medicine.
