The German logistic terminal will be extended in Smolensk region

The working meeting of the Governor Alexey Ostrovskiy with the head of the concern Rethmann Group Klemens-Nobert Rethmann has taken place on the basis of the custom and logistic terminal «Rhenus Terminal» during which the parties have discussed the prospects of further cooperation of the company and Smolensk region.

Today the terminal of the company Rhenus is strategically significant customs and logistic object not only for our region, but also for all Russia. It is the first customs warehouse created by concern on border of the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus. The realization of so large-scale investment project with a total cost about 6,5 million euros was enabled in 2010-2015. Social effect is creation of 60 jobs.

Now LLC Rhenus Terminal which is placed in the territory of 8 hectares has high turnover capacity. 400 parking spaces and also convenient entrance on the territory from Federal Highway M-1 «Belarus» are provided for cargo transport.

Certainly, such logistic infrastructure gives good results. In three years of work the number of the vehicles which have arrived to the terminal has been increased twice, and the number of declarations has practically grown three times. Growth of number of direct clients is indicative: there were only two in 2014, and in 2016 there have already been 29.

«It is success of all our team», - the CEO of LLC Rhenus Terminal Larisa Martynova has estimated work of the company, having shared further development plans for business. Next year «Rhenus Logistic» plans to raise the status to a customs post of the Smolensk customs, to realize so-called «green corridors» between Germany and Russia, to expand the list of the exported goods. In plans of the management is registration of the goods getting under risks of phytosanitary and veterinary control, and also obtaining the license for implementation of pharmaceutical activity for customs registration of medicines and forest products. The company is entirely ready to equip of the terminal with the necessary equipment.

Logistics is not the only activity of the concern. The company «Sariya» which is also entering into Rethmann Group carries out a full cycle of processing of biological and vegetable waste, being one of the leaders in the field of innovations in bioraw materials utilization. About one hundred eighty plants of the company are located worldwide.

The Governor has suggested to consider the possibility of opening of the similar plant in the territory of the region. In turn, the head of the company Rethmann Group promised to discuss structurally this offer with the colleagues supervising the sphere of the bioindustry, having focused their attention on investment advantages of our region and openness of the regional power.

In the end of the meeting Klemens-Nobert Rethmann has given appreciation to activity of Administration of Smolensk region and personally the Governor in questions of interaction with investors: «Many thanks for your support, Mr Ostrovskiy. We appreciate it. When I talk to prime ministers of the lands in Germany, I cite as an example interaction with the leadership of Smolensk region and the Republic of Tatarstan and I say to them that they have to be more constructive in work with business too».
